Lowe's COI FAQ

What is Lowe's Product Risk Classification Tier system?

Lowe's assigns each vendor to one of three tiers based on the products they sell. Tier I (lowest risk) requires $1M/$2M. Tier II requires $2M/$5M. Tier III (highest risk) requires $5M/$10M. Lower-risk decor and softgoods typically fall in Tier I; power tools and building materials often fall in Tier II or III.

How do I know which tier I am in?

Lowe's assigns your tier at vendor onboarding based on the goods sold. If your relationship with Lowe's changes (new product lines, larger volume, new categories), your tier may automatically be upgraded. Contact your Lowe's vendor representative if unsure.

Does Lowe's require waiver of subrogation?

Yes. All required policies must include a waiver of subrogation in favor of Lowe's Additional Insureds. The general liability coverage must also be primary and non-contributory.

What if I sell products that span multiple tiers?

You must meet the highest applicable tier's requirements. If you sell Tier I and Tier III products, you need Tier III limits ($5M/$10M) across your entire policy.

Does Lowe's require Workers Compensation?

Workers Compensation is required for any vendor whose employees will be on Lowe's premises. Statutory limits apply, with Employers Liability minimum of $500,000 each employee, $500,000 each accident, $500,000 policy limit.

Does Lowe's require auto liability?

Auto Liability is required for any vendor whose employees or agents will be driving on or making deliveries to Lowe's premises. Minimum $1M Bodily Injury and Property Damage Combined Single Limit.

What endorsement form does Lowe's accept?

Lowe's accepts CG 20 15 / CG 20 26 vendor endorsements OR equivalent blanket AI endorsements that include both ongoing and completed operations coverage. The endorsement must include primary / non-contributory and waiver of subrogation.

How much does Lowe's-compliant insurance cost?

Tier I: $75-$300/month. Tier II: $250-$900/month. Tier III: $1,000-$4,000+/month. Workers Comp and Auto add cost if applicable. Umbrella / Excess often needed to reach Tier II and Tier III aggregates.
