Walmart Wants a Certificate of Insurance. We Get You Compliant and Shop It for You.

If your Walmart Marketplace sales crossed $100,000 over the last 12 months, Walmart now requires a Certificate of Insurance in Seller Center. We issue a compliant COI that names Walmart correctly, and because we are an independent broker, we shop your coverage across the market instead of funneling you to one carrier.

Independent broker Ecommerce specialists A real person, not an 800 number

Your COI must show

General and product liability
$1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate
Walmart Inc., its subsidiaries and affiliates as additional insured
Insured name matching your exact legal business name
Uploaded on the Seller Liability Insurance page in Seller Center
GOT THE EMAIL?

Walmart’s insurance notices are landing in spam folders, so many sellers never see them. Selling wholesale to Walmart instead? That is the Walmart Suppliers & Brands program, and it works differently.

The requirement, decoded

What your Certificate of Insurance has to show

Walmart triggers this once a Marketplace seller passes $100,000 in sales over a rolling 12 months. Get any detail wrong and the certificate can be rejected.

1

The right coverage

Commercial general liability and product liability, not one or the other.

2

The right limits

At least $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate.

3

The right wording

Walmart Inc., its subsidiaries and affiliates named as additional insured.

4

The right name

The insured must match your exact legal business name in Seller Center, or it can be rejected.

5

The right place

Uploaded as a PDF on the Seller Liability Insurance page in Seller Center.

6

The right partner

We set every one of these correctly before your certificate reaches Walmart.

Read this twice

Being insured is not the same as being compliant

You can have an active, fully paid policy and still get flagged, because Walmart is checking whether a compliant certificate is uploaded in Seller Center. No certificate on file means your account is at risk, policy or not.

You have a choice

Walmart’s suggested program vs an independent broker

Walmart points you to a program run through a single broker offering two carriers. Its own disclosure says other options are available. You are required to carry the coverage. You are not required to buy it there.

Why sellers choose us

An advocate, not a checkout page

Buying online gets you a policy. Working with us gets you someone who knows ecommerce and stays in your corner.

Independent, not a funnel

We shop your coverage across the market instead of steering you to one carrier.

How it works

Compliant in four simple steps

1

Tell us about your store

Your legal business name, what you sell, and your annual sales.

2

We shop the market

We compare coverage and pricing across carriers, not just one.

3

We issue your COI

Right limits, Walmart named as additional insured, matched to your legal name.

4

You upload in Seller Center

We show you exactly where it goes so it is accepted the first time.

Beyond the minimum

Coverage that fits what you actually sell

The COI is the requirement. Real protection is matching coverage to your products and your operation. We look at all of it.

Product LiabilityClaims tied to the products you sell.
General LiabilityThe base Walmart requires.
Cyber & Account TakeoverBreaches and hijacked seller accounts.
Cargo & InventoryGoods in transit and in storage.
3PL & WarehouseCoverage where your stock actually sits.
Product RecallThe cost of pulling a product from the market.
Plain English answers

Walmart Marketplace insurance, straight

Is this the same as being a Walmart supplier?

No. Marketplace (3P) sellers list their own products on Walmart.com and manage this through Seller Center. Suppliers and brands sell wholesale to Walmart through a separate program with its own insurance process. This page is for Marketplace sellers.

Do I really have to do this?

If Walmart notified you or your sales crossed $100,000 over the last 12 months, then yes. Walmart can inactivate your account until a compliant certificate is on file.

Do I have to use Walmart’s suggested program?

No. You must carry qualifying coverage, but you can place it with any licensed insurer. Walmart’s own program materials confirm alternatives are available. As an independent broker, we shop it for you.

Why use a broker instead of buying online?

A broker works for you, not the carrier. We shop multiple markets, set the certificate to Walmart’s exact requirement, and give you a real person to call as your business changes. That is hard to get from an 800 number or a checkout page.

What if my sales drop below $100,000 later?

Walmart still encourages you to keep liability coverage in place. For most sellers, carrying it continuously is the safer and simpler path.
