ABC / Good Morning America COI FAQ

What are ABC / GMA Deals & Steals insurance requirements?

$2,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate of CGL on an occurrence basis. Plus $2,000,000 Cyber Liability covering unauthorized access, security failure, breach notification, and regulatory defense. Multiple named additional insureds including 40 Boxes, S2 Partners, and ABC.

Why does ABC / GMA require Cyber Liability?

Vendors on Deals & Steals process customer data through the platform's e-commerce system. Cyber coverage protects ABC, GMA, and the operating partners (40 Boxes, S2) from financial damage if a vendor's data handling causes a breach.

What is the 3-year tail requirement?

Coverage must be maintained for three years following the last listing of Goods under any Product Listing. If you cancel or non-renew within that window, you must purchase an extended reporting period (tail) endorsement to maintain compliance.

What is Insured-vs-Insured / Cross-Liability exclusion?

Standard CGL policies often exclude claims brought by one insured against another (cross-liability exclusion). ABC requires this exclusion to be WAIVED for claims brought by an additional insured against any other insured — so ABC can recover from your policy without conflict.

Can I use Umbrella / Excess to reach the $2M CGL?

Yes. Most vendors carry $1M primary CGL plus $1M Umbrella / Excess Liability following form. The umbrella must extend AI status, primary / non-contributory wording, and products / completed operations to all the named ABC parties.

Does the policy need to be primary?

Yes. Vendor coverage must be primary and non-contributory to any other coverage carried by ABC, GMA, 40 Boxes, S2 Partners, or their affiliates. This means your policy pays first, before any ABC-side coverage applies.

What if my product has been listed on GMA but is no longer active?

You still need coverage for 3 years after the last listing. Even if you stop selling, claims can arise from products purchased during the listing period. Maintain occurrence-basis coverage for the full 3 years (or buy tail if cancelling).

How much does ABC / GMA-compliant insurance cost?

$300 to $1,200 per month for the GL stack (often $1M primary + $1M umbrella). Plus $100 to $400 per month for Cyber Liability. Total annual cost typically $4,800 to $19,200 depending on revenue and risk profile.
